Looking Back: A Night Under the Sea at Castaways Beach Club
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Tales of the Tides, our annual summer fundraiser! This year’s theme transported guests to an enchanting world under the sea, complete with shimmering mermaids, dashing mermen, and cocktail beach attire that truly impressed.
We gathered at Castaways, where the backdrop of Lake Michigan set the stage for an evening of drinks, dancing, and ocean-inspired magic, creating the perfect setting for connection among the design industry community from across Chicagoland. It was a night of good friends, great fun, and shared purpose—all in support of DIFFA Chicago’s mission. From the beautiful view to the lively atmosphere, it was a celebration to remember.
Together, we raised over $40,000 to fund our Excellence In Care Grants program, which supports organizations dedicated to HIV/AIDS research and care. Your generosity ensures that DIFFA Chicago can continue making a meaningful impact where it matters most.

Congratulations to Darren Jones, Unsung Hero 2025
The Unsung Hero is an award given to an individual in recognition for their demonstrated passion and commitment to all that DIFFA Chicago does.
Darren started his journey with DIFFA Chicago, working on the yearly Art for Life Chicago event. He soon joined the Board of Directors and became a co-chair of the event for the last 3 years.
Working with the AFLC team, “Off the Wall” has become a fan favorite, creating a vibrant juried art sale in the beautiful lobby of The Mart and bringing new supporters to DIFFA Chicago! The AFLC team created a social outreach initiative for Chance the Rapper’s “SocialWorks” charity, working with local galleries and retailers to present our top three artists from AFLC. This created a wonderful opportunity to showcase their art.
